Juvenile - General Information
The Juvenile Department handles information pertaining to juvenile cases. Types of juvenile cases include juvenile delinquency (juvenile crime), juvenile dependency (child abuse, neglect, or abandonment) and Children in Need of Services (ungovernable and truant children). Delinquency cases are filed by the State Attorney's Office. Dependency cases are filed by the Florida Department of Children and Families. Children in Need of Services cases are filed by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
Juvenile Court proceedings are confidential and not open to the public. For access to information in a court file, the requesting person must appear at the Juvenile Department service counter with a proper picture I.D. Information concerning juvenile cases will be made available only to the juvenile, the parents or legal guardian, or the juvenile's "Attorney of Record". Due to the confidential nature of cases involving juveniles, only selective information pertaining to Juvenile issues will be given over the telephone.

IMPORTANT: Confidential Information within Court Filings - Effective October 1, 2010
Effective October 1, 2010 any paper filed with the court that contains confidential information (social security numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, etc.) must be accompanied by a new form called “NOTICE OF CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION WITHIN COURT FILING”. The information entered on this form will indicate the type of confidential data being filed and its’ precise location within the document being filed. This requirement is a result of an amendment by the Florida Supreme Court to Rule 2.420 of the Florida Rules of Judicial Administration. To access the interactive form click here.
