Courthouse Tours

General Information

The Duval County Clerk’s Office offers tours twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. Groups have the option of beginning their tour at either 9:30 am or 2:00 pm, subject to availability. Slots for tours will be granted on a first come, first served basis. Tours will last approximately two hours and will include an overview of the building and its features, an explanation of the Duval County Clerk’s Office functions, and, subject to availability, a question and answer session with a judge, an opportunity to visit one of the Courthouse’s ceremonial courtrooms, and a tour of the JSO facilities in the courthouse.

Scheduling Tours

  1. All tours must be scheduled with the Director of Communications, who can be contacted by email at tours@duvalclerk.com or by phone at (904) 255-1828.
  2. Please utilize the Tour Request Form to request your tour. The completed form can be emailed to tours@duvalclerk.com or can be mailed to:

    Duval County Clerk of Courts
    Attn: PUBLIC RECORDS DEPARTMENT
501 West Adams Street, Room 2338
    Jacksonville, FL 32202

  3. The designated contact person for each tour needs to accompany the group on the trip and be authorized to make all decisions regarding the tour’s schedule.
  4. Courthouse tours will not be scheduled through a third party.
  5. Tours will be limited to a maximum of 35 participants. If a tour group includes children, there must be at least 1 chaperone per 7 children.

Tour Procedures

  1. After the tour is booked, the Director of Communications will work with the designated contact person to set up the specifics of the tour.
  2. A tentative schedule is included below for the 9:30 am tour option. The same schedule outline would apply to tours beginning at 2:00 pm. Please note that this is subject to change, with or without notice, depending on the availability of the judiciary or Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office personnel.
  3. Tour participants are expected to conduct themselves with reserve and courtesy and, when appearing at the Courthouse, must dress appropriately to preserve the dignity of the Court.
  4. The tour group will need to be dropped off at the front entrance of the Duval County Courthouse on Adams Street and will make their way through security. The contact person from the tour group must check in with the tour guide, who will meet the group by the time capsule just inside the Courthouse Atrium. All participants must remain with the tour group at all times.
  5. The tour guide will adhere to the schedule as closely as possible but will require the assistance of the participants. The tour must be kept moving at all times in crowded areas and the hallways cannot be blocked at any time.
  6. If a group includes children, chaperones are asked to keep an accurate count of the tour participants at all times and are responsible for keeping them with the group.

Courthouse Security and Prohibited Items

For the safety of everyone, there are security screenings at the entrance of the Duval County Courthouse. All visitors to the courthouse are required to go through the screening process to be allowed into the building. Everything you bring with you must be put in a tray and screened before you walk through the metal detector, including all wallets, loose change, cell phones, laptops, books, or magazines.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has provided the Clerk with a list of items prohibited from being brought into the Courthouse. Please review the list and ensure that you do not bring any restricted items with you: Courthouse Prohibited Items
